The Scrappy Tails Company World Tour

A rack of handmade dog bandanas, a pile of rescued fabric, and a calendar full of Virginia fall weekends — we're going on tour.

This fall and winter, Scrappy Tails Company is setting up at four events across Central Virginia, and we'd genuinely love to see you at every stop. Here's where we'll be, what we're bringing, and why each one's worth the trip.

The idea behind the tour

Every bandana we make starts as something nobody else wanted — the last yard off a bolt, a scrap from someone else's project, a donated remnant that was headed for the landfill until we gave it a second life. We cut it, sew it, and turn it into something your dog can wear proudly.

Here's the thing about working this way: no two bolts of remnant fabric are ever the same. That means every single bandana on the rack is genuinely one-of-a-kind. What you see at the booth is what exists in the world. When it's gone, it's gone — we can't reorder it, because there is no "more."

That's the whole scrappy idea, and the tour is our chance to put it in front of you in person. Come try a bandana on your dog, feel the fabric, hear the story behind it, and take home something unrepeatable.

Stop 1: Lake Anna Jazz Festival 🎶

Saturday & Sunday, September 19–20, 2026Lake Anna, Virginia

Good music, good dogs, good fabric saved from the landfill — that's the whole pitch for this one. We'll be set up with a full rack of one-of-a-kind bandanas, plus festival shirts and a few scrappy surprises. Two days of jazz by the lake, with a booth full of bandanas you can actually put on your dog before you buy.

Friendly dogs welcome. Come for the music, stay for the rack.

Stop 2: Merrie Mill Art Festival & Book Fair 🍷

This stop's a little different — it's two crafts from one maker. I cut handmade dog bandanas from rescued and remnant fabric, and I also write books. Both start with something discarded or overlooked and end with something worth keeping. There's a theme here, and it's called salvage.

We're in excellent company, too. Live art demonstrations run all day, the Wildlife Center of Virginia is on-site from 12–2 PM with their education ambassador critters (non-releasable wildlife they've rehabilitated — another second-chance story, if you're counting), and there's wine from the vineyard because, well, it's a vineyard.

Rescued fabric, rescued wildlife, salvaged stories. Come spend the afternoon.

Stop 3: Louisa Fall Festival 🍂

This one's practically in our backyard. Scrappy Tails is a Central Virginia business, and the Louisa Fall Festival — 22 years strong — is exactly the kind of homegrown, small-town tradition we love showing up for. Craft vendors, food vendors, families out enjoying a fall Saturday. The good, simple version of community.

We're bringing a full rack. Come find the Scrappy Tails booth, bring your dog, try a bandana on, and walk the grounds with us. Homegrown festival, home-team booth.

Stop 4: Santa Paws, benefiting Green Dogs Unleashed 🎅

The final stop, and the one that means the most to us. Santa Paws is a holiday event benefiting Green Dogs Unleashed, a Central Virginia non-profit that takes in the dogs who get overlooked elsewhere — including blind and special-needs pups — and gives them the training, care, and time they need to land in loving homes.

If you know our story, you know why that resonates. Our whole thing is taking what gets discarded and giving it a second life. A day that does the same for dogs is a day we want to be part of.

We'll have holiday prints, everyday prints, shirts, and a few scrappy surprises — all cut from rescued and remnant fabric — and a portion of the day goes straight to Green Dogs Unleashed. Rescued fabric, for rescued dogs. That's the whole idea in one sentence.

One rack. Four stops. A whole lot of rescued fabric getting a second life on a whole lot of very good dogs.

Come to one, two, three, or all four. Bring your dog. Bring a friend. Bring an empty tote. Try a bandana on, hear the story, and take home something that exists once and then is gone — because the fabric does, and so do we, until next time.
