A Bag On A Porch

A Bag On A Porch

The site is live. As of this morning there is a URL, and if you type it in, bandanas appear. A few weeks ago there was a bag on a porch.

Somebody's mother cleaned out a sewing room. That's how most of this starts. Cotton, flannel, half a yard of something with tiny lobsters on it. Nobody wanted any of it.

We wanted it.

What we do here

We make dog bandanas out of other people's leftovers. Scraps, remnants, the sad last yard off a bolt that sat in a store for eleven years. We cut it down, sew it up, and it goes around a neck.

Both sides are different. Why? Because we ran out of that fabric halfway through. Fine, and also because it looks good. But mostly the first one.

Scrappy, defined

Scrappy means you use what's in the bag.

It does not mean sloppy. The stitching is straight. The snaps snap. We check. But if you came here looking for two bandanas that match, we've got some bad news and one suggestion... try a bigger company.

Why bother

Because a dog in a bandana walks different. You've seen it happen. She knows. She doesn't know WHAT she knows, but something's going on in there and she's very pleased about it.

Also there's a landfill somewhere not getting this fabric. Nice bonus. We're not going to make a whole thing out of it.

Day one

So that's the site. There are photos, there are sizes, there's a page explaining how to measure a dog who does not want to be measured.

Somewhere out there a bag is sitting on a porch and we don't know about it yet.
